Happy Anniversary Janet and Jeremy!

So, the big question is...exactly how far behind are the Sandersons on their blogging adventure? And the answer is...1 year exactly with a couple of exceptions thrown in. Maybe our dear readers will find it amusing to see weddings we shot one year ago in the craziness that was summer of 2008. We love showing our readers where we have been and what we have been up to, so instead of skipping some of our very favorite weddings, we are going to try to do anniversary blog posts from our weddings last year intermingled with weddings from this year.

Enter Janet and Jeremy.
I_0826

We loved, loved, loved, this wedding. Not just because they are family, (but they are!) not just because they let us drag them all over Colorado, into crazy fields and old abandoned houses in their wedding attire (but they did!) not just because they made their wedding fun for all who attended (but they did!) but just because we loved the way they loved each other, loved everyone around them and had a blast doing it.

Since this was family, we had an extremely hard time narrowing the images. Here are a few of our favorites....

Si ~ {Music Recommendation} Sufjan Stevens.

Meet Sufjan Stevens. I'm a little obsessed with his music. I'll admit I enjoy his style so much I listen to his Christmas album year round. Yikes. I am a fan of any acoustic style of music and folky sounds, but what really pulls me in is great lyrics haunting melodies and an interesting mixture instruments. Sufjan and his band combines the banjo, piano, guitar, strings, percussion, and horns to make a very unique symphonic sound. He can go from cheerful to dark, fast to slow and weepy in the blink of an eye So I admit because I pretty much never stop listening to him, my recommendation to listen to his music is about as good as asking a groupie, what they think. Duh.

So yeah, check him out. You either love him or you hate him. So don't hate me if you don't love him. Kimberly can sympathize with you. ;) I just needed to vent some of my obsession.

Click here to see and purchase a Sufjan Stevens albums.

Enjoy some sample clips here.

1.Sufjan Stevens - {Romulous}

2.Sufjan Stevens - {Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois}

3.Sufjan Stevens - {Redford (For Yia-Yia and Pappou}

You should probably listen to a few clips on itunes to hear some of his more symphonic pieces that dominate his style before an entire album. I just really like the above samples. But if you just want to buy and album I recommend Michigan, Illinois, Songs for Christmas, or Seven Swans. Enjoy.

1 hour in Philly.

The first 45 minutes...

I spent with Dave Williams, the president of DVideography in Philly, voted one of the 25 most influential videographers in the industry! (And new friend of Sanderson Images.) Dave and I are working together on a little video about our work. It should be fun and very artistic, I can't wait to share it. Dave's work is award winning and spectacular. I highly recommend his services for both Weddings and Corporate needs. Check out his site.

Dirty Bum?

bottom_2

No. Not you silly!... babies! Yes, we have taken our work to a new level, baby bottoms, dirty baby bottoms.

Ha, there you have it, a nice little photo we took of a baby and her bottom, splashed on the front of a new product by Bum Genius™ bottom cleaner, speaking from first hand experience (we have kids, you should know this by now) this stuff is rad. It reduces the need for those freaky toxic wipes folks normally use. It works well, it reduces the amount of crap in landfills, and has a lovely vanilla smell.

Check out the generous photo credit we got. Woo hoo! I guess we need to get the kid section of the site up and running.

The Birds Came Today.

blackbirds-2

Today was the day the blackbirds came. I could hear them from inside my home. The sky was black with them.. and when they were not flying they were thick on the ground like a carpet. Sometimes they can be seen weighing down the limbs of trees.

This is a large congregation of all sorts of blackbirds. They spend the winter together around here by the millions. Yes Millions. In the summer they are quite independent. But in the winter apparently they need company.

I ran outside this morning with my camera and a 200mm lens hoping to capture them and somehow show their numbers. I made my favorite shots into some art that I think you will enjoy. These pictures have a sort of dark winter feeling.. which is the feeling I get this time of year when surrounded by millions of them.

If you would like a signed print let me know.
