Olivia Pearl melted me yesterday...

I got to spend a few hours yesterday getting to know little Olivia Pearl. Her parents, Lisa and Davies were kind enough to allow me to photograph their new addition and try all sorts of new ideas I had! Thank you guys for being so trusting! I really had a good time and look forward to doing many more of these types of sessions. Here are a few of my favorites so far:

The Burkholders, Family Lifestyle and Baby Session.

The Burkholders are some friends of ours from church. They recently had a new addition enter their family. Meet Makenna Raine, she is a beautiful baby girl. We got to spend a fun evening with this lovely family taking pictures and I think we captured some moments that describe them well. Our vision for this session was to provide a valuable snapshot into their lives, capture their lifestyle and also take some creative portraits of Makenna. It will be fun watching this family grow. Recent family portraits! Winter 08-09.

We thought we would blog a few of our favorite recent family portraits. We had so much fun with these couples, cute kids, great moments. It might be the middle of winter but you can have some great family photos taken! It's not about what you look like, its not about where you are or even the weather, and it is definitely not about saying cheese. It's about who you are, it's about your life. Everyday your family takes part in regular routines you'll wish you could remember in 20 years, and we believe every part of your family is a story worth telling, worth remembering. So, let's immortalize the goldfish disasters at snack time, that priceless face during bath time, the muddy sneakers, that crazy hairdo and that typical 14 year old attitude. Get the family together, you think of something fun to do or just stay in the home and cuddle, either way let's go create some memories!

Winter is so much fun! I think.

Ok so Kim and I are ready for spring but the kids never got to have much fun in the snow this winter because old man winter never showed up to give us some snow. Jerk. Ok, I guess he showed up once and we got out all the sledding stuff and had some fun on the hill in our backyard. The snow melted the next day but for the past month the kids have been reliving those memories by making lemonade out of lemons (see picture below). Who needs snow, right? Anyway, we think our kids are cute and so we plan to subject you to pictures of them often. We have lots of family from far far away that miss them, so if it's not for you, it's for them. Enjoy.

Jenkins Family Portrait.

Family portraits are such a blast. Here is a good example of a recent family session that we did at the Jenkins family home. O goal here is to capture some great family portraits but also just capture some for the life in each family member. The interactions between each individual is unique and worth remembering. So we take a lot of time to just let the family be themselves and play.

In the future we would even like to take some of these shots indoors. Shots of little kids eating and older ones trying to do homework but getting distracted by their siblings. Tots dumping Legos all over the floor, little girls playing house, and older boys playing cowboys. Even Dad cooking a pot of beans and mom helping... these are real moments.. and we think they are worth remembering.

What does your family do each day? Are there little moments that you say to yourself, I wish I could just bottle that up?
