And the winner of the Surprise Ridiculously Awesome "Artistic" Photo Contest Beta is....

Beta-Artistic-1st
Brian Hancock of Brian Hancock: Photographers

Brian's Comments: "The pic is of my favorite breakfast joint. I liked the way the sun was falling as I looked up so I wanted to grab the sun and just the edge of the sign. I used the CameraBag iPhone app to take it with. I believe it was on the Magazine setting".

John's Comments: "Brilliantly composed, Excellent colors. Perfect editing. I can see Brians whole childhood in this photo".

Kimberly's Comments: "Simple yet intriguing, love the composition. Loving the contrast between the Sun, sky and old Neon".

Beta-Artistic-Honerables

Thanks to all of the phone Photographers for their submissions! We received over 25 excellent photos to choose from. The above photos we thought deserved Honorable Mentions specifically for their artistic qualities and clear intent to set out and take an artistic photo! Our favorite part about the above photos is that some are taken by Pro photographers, regular people and even a chicken farmer (which barely missed 1st place)! This should encourage all of you to join in next time! So Congratulations Honorables! You guys get to walk about the streets today feeling like winners too!

If you are wondering why and how the above entries were able to edit their photos in camera let me suggest some of the following iphone apps.

Photo fx
Pano

Just For Fun; The International Space Station and Discovery

Picture-14

Yep, its true, the photo above is of the the International Space Station and Space Shuttle Discovery, as seen from our back yard. You can see it for yourself too! Just check Spaceweather.com and click on Satellite Flybys. Yes, I am a geek, but come on, I've seen the Space Station and the Space Shuttle flying in space.. so what if it's 215 miles away?

Find Your Beautiful!

(Warning! This post contains some sexy photos)

Get ready for something a little different...we at Sanderson Images are trying something new! Yay for new personal projects! As a woman, I am well aware of the pressure that society places on us to have perfect bodies and never feeling satisfied in our own skin. I am on a mission to change that! You are beautiful! I had so much fun shooting this and can't wait for my next chance to empower another woman! That may sound weird, but I believe that feeling confident, sexy, and gorgeous can have a staggering effect on how you live your life! When I did the shoot below, the woman in the photo brought along 2 friends and we had such a blast together! We all came away feeling strong and beautiful in our own skin. Both of her friends talked about wanting to do a shoot too because it was SUCH a freeing feeling. My goal is to artistically capture the beauty of women. This is not intended to be "glamour shots", nor does one have to wear skimpy outfits, the goal here is to find you own personal beautiful and make art that makes you feel proud and confident. As an added bonus we expect your significant other will appreciate them as well. ;-) We are excited to announce this new type of photo session and want to encourage you to try it. (I might add that this is a girl project only! John will not be coming along on these shoots.)

We still have time to book a couple of sessions before Valentine's day if anyone is still searching for that "perfect gift!"

Happy Thanksgiving from Punta Cana!

iStock_000005378608Small

John and Kimberly are Photographing an exotic event in Punta Cana and the Majestic Colonial Resort in the Dominican Republic. We should be back in the office by Wednesday Dec 3rd.

We have lots of exciting images to share with you from this fall so stay tuned. We will try to make a blog post or two while we are here but we have limited internet access. If you need to contact us, email will eventually reach us.

We want to wish all our clients and family members a happy Thanksgiving, we are sad to be away from you this year but excited that Kimberly and I will get to spend some time alone in an exotic land. Now if we can only find something other than our kids to talk about.

Please watch...

Ok, life is nuts over at the Sanderson household.. I mean INSANE. Crying children, phones ringing, a RIVER of emails, new gallery construction, cheese and crackers for lunches, BILLIONS of photos to edit and print and upload and burn and bind and on and on and on... is goes. Seriously.. no time for blogging, showering, mowing, laundry, cooking... sleeping.

But we do have time for 1 thing. See the video.

Married Wedding Photographers Ski Retreat.

Live from New Hampshire it's Saturday Night!

Kimberly and I embarked on a brave adventure this week. Skiing, eating, vacationing, and talking shop with some of the best married wedding photographers in New England. These are great folks that we have come to enjoy and we are happy to introduce you to them.

Matt_Enna
Enna and Matt Grazier - Grazier Photography of Boston. These two are pictage forum friends that we got to know by sharing experiences with. As the creators of the "Grazier Ski Trip" we have them to thank for all the fun and learning we have had this week. Don't be fooled by Matt and His Gangsta style.. he's soft and fluffy on the inside. Kim and I are extremely fond of Matt and Enna and really look to them for guidance and knowledge in all aspects of life and business. In many ways we are cut from the same cloth.

Justin_Mary
Justin and Mary - Justin Marantz Photography of Connecticut. These two are taking a break from their PUG tour and are all the buzz in the wedding photography industry, we loved meeting them. Their ideas are revolutionary to the industry, if your a photographer you MUST go see them talk at your local PUG. Justin learned to ski this week but totally ripped it up out there.. he was skiing the BLUE runs!!... kind of against his will. eek. I hope he forgives the rest of us for that one. I have a feeling we will be getting to know them even more in the future.

Andy_Christine
Andy and Christine - Bello Photography of Boston. We met these two a day late and kicked things off by pushing their car up 200 yards of steep icy snow to get to the house. We have kinship now. We enjoyed getting to know them and hear some of their experiences.

Larry_Tabitha
Larry and Tabitha - Sherrell Portrait Design of Cape Cod. Kim and I seemed to have some striking similarities to these guys. We enjoyed their presence and spent lots of time laughing and even crying a little together. We hope to see them again soon.

john_kim
And of course us... John and Kimberly

Over the past week we have really enjoyed these new friends and the openness they have about their lives and their businesses. We have truly inspired each other for this summer and had a lot of fun skiing, playing games and eating good food. We only wished we lived closer to them all and we really look forward to doing it all again next year. This was a vacation to remember! It was the first vacation we have had without the kids in 4 years! Woooo Hoooo! Oddly enough though, we miss them.

Dirty Bum?

bottom_2

No. Not you silly!... babies! Yes, we have taken our work to a new level, baby bottoms, dirty baby bottoms.

Ha, there you have it, a nice little photo we took of a baby and her bottom, splashed on the front of a new product by Bum Genius™ bottom cleaner, speaking from first hand experience (we have kids, you should know this by now) this stuff is rad. It reduces the need for those freaky toxic wipes folks normally use. It works well, it reduces the amount of crap in landfills, and has a lovely vanilla smell.

Check out the generous photo credit we got. Woo hoo! I guess we need to get the kid section of the site up and running.
