Leanne and Jared were married on June 10th, with a ceremony and reception at a country barn in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
These two met in August 2013 on Christian Mingle. Leanne hadn’t actually planned to pay for a subscription, but when Jared sent her a message, she really wanted to respond. After some time messaging back and forth, becoming Facebook friends, playing Words with Friends, and texting, Jared asked if he could call her up. Leanne agreed, even though she’s not a big fan of talking on the phone. They ended up talking almost every night on the phone and then moved onto Skype. They finally decided to meet up in Pittsburgh, halfway between where they lived in Indiana and Reading, Pennsylvania. In November, they stayed at the same hotel in different rooms and spent the whole weekend together. They had their first official date together at the Pittsburgh Zoo, and ever since then, they’ve been together—and madly in love.
For over 3 years, the two of them continued their relationship long-distance, constantly staying in contact and spending at least 4 days together every month or so. We were impressed by their passion and by how comfortable and loving they were with each other—especially since they’d spent so long apart.
Now, the two of them love hiking together and being outside. Leanne even has about 12 squirrels that come when she calls to feed them, as well as some groundhogs and chipmunks. They love to fish and read and discuss books together, too. Leanne raises money for her village in Guatemala, and they hope to one day find a home with some land to start a farm of their own.
A Lancaster PA Country Barn Wedding
On the day of the wedding, Kim started out with Leanne, and John was with Jared. Originally, Leanne hadn’t wanted to have a bridal party, because it would remind her of her sister, who passed away in 2004. She and her sister would always talk about being each other’s maids of honor, and Leanne wasn’t sure she could face that absence. However, she realized she wanted to have her brothers and sister there, so she asked her brother, Brendan, to be her man of honor. They are 16 years apart—he’s just 18 years old—but they shared a special bond as Leanne has watched him grow up. Her sister, Jenn, was her bridesmaid, and her brother, George, was a bridesman. Jared also asked his brothers, Caleb and Jeremy, to be groomsmen, as well as his best friend, Sam, who taught with Jared in China.
Even though Leanne’s sister wasn’t there, they found ways to honor her. Since her sister’s birthstone was garnet, Leanne wore a bracelet with a garnet in it and decorated a few other places, including her bridesmaid’s dress, in deep red. She also walked down the aisle to “Canon,” the song her sister wanted to walk down the aisle to in her own wedding.
After a first look, we were able to get some pictures of the two of them around the grounds and by the Red Brick Farmhouse across the street. These two were so fun to photograph, especially because they could give us all sorts of styles. They were hilarious during a photoshoot with a tractor trailer, romantic at the wedding, and epic at sunset.
We also made sure to get pictures of the details like the wishing well and the wooden chest that Leanne had engraved for people to put advice in.
Jared & Leanne, we had an amazing day with you! You are a very kind and sweet couple, and we hope to see you again in the future.
