The countdown begins.

Now is the best time to book a photographer. Between January 15th and mid march a flash flood of brides begin to book vendors and most are willing to do anything to book peak dates. If you are planning a Saturday wedding for summer 2007 and you want a good photographer, now is the time to get serious otherwise you will face stiff competition. Like most people we book clients 1st come 1st serve and we only take one client per day.

A trip to Pennsylvania.

Sometimes I get a call from my friend Jeremy Hess, one of my closest friends ever and also one of the best photographers I know. He also operates a Wedding photography business in Pennsylvania. He calls me now and then for help with one of his weddings and offers me an opportunity to be his 2nd shooter so long as I am not booked already in Virginia. Jeremy books a lot of weddings and sometimes he just does not have enough locally available photographers. I only book one wedding per day so finding a good 2nd shooter is as easy as shooting my beautiful wife a smile. =) Photographing a wedding with Jeremy is a very interesting experience for me and I am always delighted to learn and see how our business and skills compare. I love shooting Weddings in Lancaster! So much color and farm weddings are the best! When I shoot 2nd shooter for Jeremy It is my job to capture the guys. I get all the portraits I can of them, then later on in the evening, I get some shots of the couple. I hope I have a free weekend or two next summer to help shoot with him again.

Congratulations Nigel and Anne!

Congratulations David and Kristin!

First and Second place awards!

Today we received notification that we had won First and Second prize in the Charlottesville Albermarle County "Show us your C'ville" Photography contest! It's so funny how things like this can happen. I was Photographing Lindsay and Josh on the Down Town Mall in Charlottesville and in the middle of an exposure a nice man stops by to tell me that I should enter a photo into this photo contest. Little did we know that the photograph I was taking at that moment would come to be one of the winning photos in the contest! How crazy is that! Anyway, we are very excited about this and we just wanted to share it with you. Oh yeah and Thanks to Josh and Lindsay who so willingly listened to my ideas on the DTM that day. These kids are great and I am looking forward to photographing their wedding. You can see more images from their engagement photo session Here

I Love Cake!

I wanted to show you some cool cakes. The first cake was made by my friend Jenny Warner. She She is a part time cake maker in PA. For her full time job she works for a cool non profit organization called Global Disciples. The other cakes I am not to sure about who made them but I am sure my friend at Cakes Unlimited could help you out. The cakes below I considered a little bit different than what I normally see in this business. The best part about these cakes was not the looks. It was the taste!

Pet Portraits!

Yep. Each year they become more popular. This beautiful Weimaraner puppy was so fun to take pictures of. I think it would be fun to document the life of a special puppy much like we document the lives of children. We start when they are very young and every year we do a portrait session, eventually you have a great storybook of photos that will help you always remember the various stages of the animals life. Sounds fun to me.

If you think this puppy is cute you are not alone. This is the same breed of dog that one of my favorite photographers in the world... William Wegman uses for his fine art photography. Check him out
