Married Wedding Photographers Ski Retreat.

Live from New Hampshire it's Saturday Night!

Kimberly and I embarked on a brave adventure this week. Skiing, eating, vacationing, and talking shop with some of the best married wedding photographers in New England. These are great folks that we have come to enjoy and we are happy to introduce you to them.

Matt_Enna
Enna and Matt Grazier - Grazier Photography of Boston. These two are pictage forum friends that we got to know by sharing experiences with. As the creators of the "Grazier Ski Trip" we have them to thank for all the fun and learning we have had this week. Don't be fooled by Matt and His Gangsta style.. he's soft and fluffy on the inside. Kim and I are extremely fond of Matt and Enna and really look to them for guidance and knowledge in all aspects of life and business. In many ways we are cut from the same cloth.

Justin_Mary
Justin and Mary - Justin Marantz Photography of Connecticut. These two are taking a break from their PUG tour and are all the buzz in the wedding photography industry, we loved meeting them. Their ideas are revolutionary to the industry, if your a photographer you MUST go see them talk at your local PUG. Justin learned to ski this week but totally ripped it up out there.. he was skiing the BLUE runs!!... kind of against his will. eek. I hope he forgives the rest of us for that one. I have a feeling we will be getting to know them even more in the future.

Andy_Christine
Andy and Christine - Bello Photography of Boston. We met these two a day late and kicked things off by pushing their car up 200 yards of steep icy snow to get to the house. We have kinship now. We enjoyed getting to know them and hear some of their experiences.

Larry_Tabitha
Larry and Tabitha - Sherrell Portrait Design of Cape Cod. Kim and I seemed to have some striking similarities to these guys. We enjoyed their presence and spent lots of time laughing and even crying a little together. We hope to see them again soon.

john_kim
And of course us... John and Kimberly

Over the past week we have really enjoyed these new friends and the openness they have about their lives and their businesses. We have truly inspired each other for this summer and had a lot of fun skiing, playing games and eating good food. We only wished we lived closer to them all and we really look forward to doing it all again next year. This was a vacation to remember! It was the first vacation we have had without the kids in 4 years! Woooo Hoooo! Oddly enough though, we miss them.

Dirty Bum?

bottom_2

No. Not you silly!... babies! Yes, we have taken our work to a new level, baby bottoms, dirty baby bottoms.

Ha, there you have it, a nice little photo we took of a baby and her bottom, splashed on the front of a new product by Bum Genius™ bottom cleaner, speaking from first hand experience (we have kids, you should know this by now) this stuff is rad. It reduces the need for those freaky toxic wipes folks normally use. It works well, it reduces the amount of crap in landfills, and has a lovely vanilla smell.

Check out the generous photo credit we got. Woo hoo! I guess we need to get the kid section of the site up and running.

Jenkins Family Portrait.

Jenkins_family010

Family portraits are such a blast. Here is a good example of a recent family session that we did at the Jenkins family home. O goal here is to capture some great family portraits but also just capture some for the life in each family member. The interactions between each individual is unique and worth remembering. So we take a lot of time to just let the family be themselves and play.

In the future we would even like to take some of these shots indoors. Shots of little kids eating and older ones trying to do homework but getting distracted by their siblings. Tots dumping Legos all over the floor, little girls playing house, and older boys playing cowboys. Even Dad cooking a pot of beans and mom helping... these are real moments.. and we think they are worth remembering.

What does your family do each day? Are there little moments that you say to yourself, I wish I could just bottle that up?

We can do that.

Megan and Jake are Pregnant! Yay!

Ok, so some of you may remember Megan and Jake. We have been through a lot with them.
First the Engagement.
Then the Marriage.
Now a pregnancy.

We just love these guys and are always really excited when they tell us they want some pictures taken. Megan and Jake and soon to come Maisie have been really good at keeping in touch and embody the type of relationship we see with all of our clients. We truly wish them the best and can't wait to get some pics of that cute little baby.

Our concept here is to capture the beauty of not only Megan's pregnancy but the beauty of their life and family and home. These are memories, a time in their lives they will cherish and seek to remember and a peek into what Mommy looked like when baby was just a bun in the oven.

We love this type of portraiture and we think you will too. We can apply this photographic perspective to almost any part of life. Engagement, maternity, baby, child and so on. We want capture life the way it is and we won't ask you to say cheese.

The Birds Came Today.

blackbirds-2

Today was the day the blackbirds came. I could hear them from inside my home. The sky was black with them.. and when they were not flying they were thick on the ground like a carpet. Sometimes they can be seen weighing down the limbs of trees.

This is a large congregation of all sorts of blackbirds. They spend the winter together around here by the millions. Yes Millions. In the summer they are quite independent. But in the winter apparently they need company.

I ran outside this morning with my camera and a 200mm lens hoping to capture them and somehow show their numbers. I made my favorite shots into some art that I think you will enjoy. These pictures have a sort of dark winter feeling.. which is the feeling I get this time of year when surrounded by millions of them.

If you would like a signed print let me know.

Melinda and Ryans Happy day!

So back in September Kim and I got the opportunity to meet and photograph Melinda and Ryans wedding in Virginia beach. We took advantage of the great scenery and go a lot of fun shots. This wedding had no shortage of beautiful things and people. Kids were everywhere and all seemed to have the time of their lives. Check out the cake on this one. They called it a "Mad Hatter" cake. It was awesome. I'll look into who made this cake if your are interested. Obviously very talented.

Kimberly and I really are beginning to focus on "candid moments" between people. We like pictures of people genuinely enjoying themselves. An important element of this style is more then 1 person in the frame. We want to attach the moment to a place and a group. We have also begun as you have seen before twisting the camera mid shutter to draw attention to the subject. This is a cool and fun effect if done properly.

You can see by now that the "textured" photos are always different. These are not "actions" by which we press go an walla.. textured photo. Each photo has a completely different set of operations and adjustments, therefore most clients will not have two alike textured photos. However great care is given to make sure the set of textured photos fit into a style that matches the clients "set". Enjoy!

Trip to Florida Plus Congrats to Keri and Sam.

Great Egrit

So we took a trip this Fall to Florida for Keri and Sams Wedding. A Small intimate wedding in Miami. We took the whole family down for a little R&R after the wedding and decided to spend most of our time on the Beach. We learned quickly that the kids love the beach, instead of going to Disney World and other Florida attractions.. sand and water as all we needed for a really fun Vacation.

For many of you this is the first post you have ever read that focus a bit on our family. I'll call these "life Posts", consider them a bit of insight into our family. We want you to get to know us and witness exactly what makes us tick. Keep yourself coming back for more and feel free to comment.

It is important to mention that the images captured above were taken using the Fuji Finepix F30 Digital point and shoot camera. This is the best Point and shoot camera ever, click on the camera to see a review.

Keri and Sam really had a nice wedding. Small, with a lot of close family and friends. I really enjoyed traveling all the way from Virginia to capture their special day.

It's always good to get noticed.... By your hero.

This is fun. One of the worlds greatest wedding photographers of all time David Beckstead has accepted two of our photos to his "Admired by Beckstead" web site. This is a world renowned web site which is followed by many photographers, to have two of our photos chosen by such an amazing photographer as examples of work he admires is such an honor. It proves that we all inspire each other! I also take it as in indicator that we are on track and producing original artwork that is one of a kind. Thanks David!
