Sarah and Jeremy Engagement Session

The three of us went to Maymont park in Richmond for this quick little session. We basically just walked around and I had fun taking pictures of two people who clearly love each other. This park is amazing and we could have kept going if we were not chased out by a ranger.

Lori Jo and Nathan engagement session.

Kim and I have very quickly become friends with these two ever since they booked us for their fall 2007 wedding. We took a road trip down to Chapel Hill, NC to get some fun and different shots of Lori Jo and Nathan together. We had a great time! We look forward to getting a lot of great shots and having a wonderful time with these two over the summer. I can't wait for their wedding.. it's being held on her dad's farm in Richmond.. I love farms. Something about the barns and fields.. It's going to be so fun!

Stay tuned.

Nate and Leah Engagement Session.

Nate and Leak let me drag them all over the Down Town Mall in Charlottesville for this engagement photography session. The evening was beautiful and the light was perfect. We took advantage of the crowds and an empty parking garage. A little change of outfits an we changed the mood of the images halfway. This is going to be a fun couple to photograph at their wedding in June. Stay tuned.

Totally FREE, freeness!

You heard me. Free. Ok here is the deal. I have only booked 1 date in July, 07-07-07. Something about my web site must say "July is not my best month". So the rest of the July it looks like a I get a little vacation. It will be much needed because all other months are INSANE and I will be really tired of white dresses and black tuxes. So, during my little sabbatical I want to photograph something different, refresh my mind and inspire myself for the fall and all my wonderful fall clients.

So here are the necessary ingredents.

1. Two lovely people.. In love.
2. A theme, think of anything.. examples; Vintage, Classical, Old Money, Hippie, Travelers, Muscle car, Cyndi Lauper, mystical fog people of the Asian Bamboo Woodland, water people of the inland cristal springs, etc..
3. BEAUTIFUL outfits, props, locations.
4. A day in July 2007
5. Me and Kimberly.

All you have to do is send in a photo of the couple to be photographed and your "theme" including a description of the outfits and props.

Winner/winners gets a 2-3 hour portrait session. 8x10 print. A complete set of 3x5 prints.

Stephanie and Eric Engagement Photos

What a great day for engagement pictures and what a great couple too! We had fun in beautiful Staunton VA taking all sorts of photographs. All of these images were taken in public places, yet they seem to capture the feeling of being the only 2 people on earth.

These two plan a fun and event filled wedding night in Harrisonburg. I'm glad I get to be a part of it.

Amy and Jarrod Engagement Photos

Amy and Jarrod are getting ready to be married In May. We spent an hour or so around Lake Anna taking pictures during the "Magic Hour". The light was beautiful and Amy and Jarrod had fun just being themselves.

We try to keep our images "candid" so you will never be too posed. We let our clients do what they do best.. love each-other, My job is then to take pictures of the happiness they are willing to share and let me be a part of.

Most clients, when they say, "I don't look good in pictures" have never really had their photos taken in such an atmosphere. So often times our clients are really surprised at how great they look in the photos we take.

Pat and Brittany Engagement

I have long worked with Brittnay in the magazine business, she has become a very close friend, so when I heard she was finally getting married to Pat I was excited to hear they want me to get some family pictures for them. We went to a really cool farm outside Charlottesville and took the pictures near an old barn. I love the look and we had a really great time!

Megan and Jake's Engagement Portraits.

I first met Megan during photography consultation meeting at White Hall Vineyards outside of Charlottesville, VA. This was a great place to meet her and get to know her. Megan is passionate about many things and one of them happens to be wine and cheese. She was in her element. We spent a little over 2 hours chatting away about many culinary delights. It was fun and the time we spent together really gave me an idea of who Megan is, and she a little about me too. This is an important part of my strategy as a wedding photographer. I like to get to know my clients as much as possible. I want my clients to know me as well. Although Megan and I barely covered the topic of photography. The process of building a trusting relationship with my client was underway.

Megan has been eagerly waiting for her fiance to arrive in Charlottesville From the United Kingdom. Months and months of bureaucracy and catch 22's trying to enter the USA has been a challenge for them. Almost their entire engagement was spent on different continents. It was so nice to have the opportunity see them together after such a long absence. They seemingly melted into one another for their portraits. Their mood was somber but appropriate and I think my photos express not only the love they have for each other but the calm they felt after such a long absence. Again, We went to the grounds of UVA to take advantage of all the scenic backgrounds and architectural patterns.

I don't know what you think but these two kids are gorgeous together. I'm very excited to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding on June 24th. Stay tuned, this wedding should yield some exciting shots.

Now, If you need a little education about wine... or even cheese ask Megan... She works at Vavino, a local wine tasting bar on the Down Town Mall.

1st Engagement Photo of the year.

Ryan and Laura are friends of ours from church. We had fun at the UVA Campus. The lighting from the high sun (2:00pm) made this shoot challenging, I had to find shade and when I got there it made things look a little flat. Shooting with my 80-200 2.8 Nikon lens helped a lot in the shade of the UVA rotunda. We found a nice grassy spot and did some wider angle shots in tree shade which gave me an interesting spot of green surrounding them. The two were cute and made a good kick off to the 2006 season.
